If you are thinking of giving your office refurbishment then it is likely that you will be keen to get the most out of your money. Office furniture can be expensive so you need to ensure that the items you buy will give you the most benefit to you and the people working there.

Office desk and chairs

The basic, yet essential, items in your new office will be the desk and chairs. Don’t think that you have to buy new to get the best, you will often find that by looking at second hand items you can afford to get items that are of better build quality and will last longer. Look out for local auctions and you will probably be surprised at the quality you can get.

Computer accessories

Where space is tight the accessories can make a big difference. For example being able to mount monitor on the wall frees up desk space. Under the desk brackets are also a very useful product to enable you to keep the PC base out of the way. A wireless keyboard and mouse also help to keep a desk uncluttered.

File it away

The pile of papers on a desk does little for increasing productivity. Having the ability to store away paperwork will do wonders to for productivity levels. A messy desk does not indicate a busy worker sits there; untidy and easily distracted is more likely. A small set of trays and under the desk storage pedestal draws are perfect solution for this problem.

Shelving or filing cabinets

If you have the type of office set up where paper work is a requirement then a simple under the desk pedestal is not going to provide enough storage. This is when you need to think about adding some filing cabinet or shelving units to your office. If your office is able to opt for digital storage device instead then this should remove the need for such bulky storage items.

Meeting Rooms

Unless you have a large office then one meeting room / board room should cover your meeting room needs. Board room tables and chars are again perfect for the action market and you should be able to pick up something for half the price it would be new.

Additional items would be a large monitor and pc set up. These will allow work projects to be displayed and also gives access to video conferencing.

Reception

An important area of the business as it creates the important first impression to potential customers. Keep things simple with a good quality desk and some bright artwork or displays of your work. Don’t clutter the area with magazine stand and massive plasma displays. Customers will only be there briefly, presuming you have good time keeping skills, so they don’t need to spend time watching TV!

Budget

Stick to it is the golden rule, sounds simple but often it is not. Try getting a third party to keep track of your spending.
